Since it's an irrefutable fact that everyone loves lists... we bring you our Top Fives (and occasionally Top Tens)!
Have you ever thought of becoming a critic?
Do you have an opinion on a movie, television show, or in music that you want to share with the rest of the world? It turns out that most people, if not all people, have some kind of a critical opinion. Whether or not people want to expend the effort to write it down or to record it, is a different story.
Horror films are a dime a dozen and the good ones are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Well, no need to fret over your pillow case of candy. We've found five great ones.
"I'm in the empire business."
If there is one thing that makes Breaking Bad so endearing, it is watching the downfall of Walter White. It is an incredible transition, defined by a man who is fighting back in the worst possible ways imaginable. The result is a man who over time goes from being sympathetic, to totally villainous and despicable.
Okay... Before we hit the list, I should clarify: Numbers ten through six are listed in numerical order merely to keep with the articles format. #9 might actually be slightly better than #7, give or take. However, the Top Five are listed in the correct numerical order. Number one is undoubtedly my favorite. Sigh.
This past year in cinema was a significant step up compared to recent years. So many great films in 2012, but only ten spots. Let me preface for you, the reader, before you start scrolling down on my movie rankings: I was not able to get out and watch every acclaimed film in 2012, but for the most part I liked what I did see.
"But if I'm really being honest, I never thought it would have a happy ending."
There used to be a time when The Office was an amazing series. It was smart, painfully funny, and its refreshing delivery in a mockumentary format put it above all other sitcoms at the time of its launch.
Since Skyfall is only days away from hitting the theaters, and the franchise is celebrating its half centennial (50 years) anniversary, I thought why not do a good 'ol Top Five for everyone's favourite British secret agent. The 00 agent with a license to kill has been in 22, going on 23, films over the past 50 years, saving the world time after time.
The horror genre is a prolific one. We've all seen a thousand different movies that claim to be scary. But these days, we'll usually settle for shocking or merely disturbing. Seeing a guy hack off one of his own limbs (or in that case of Saw, wimping out and not showing us) has pathetically become the industry standard.
September 30, 2012. Circle that date on your calendar. That is the date of the season premier of Homeland. For those of you that sadly, are not familiar with Homeland, the only thing you need to know is that it is absolutely worth checking out.
As for those of you that enjoyed the first season of Homeland, you have come to the right place.
"The children are our future." At least, that's what my bumper sticker says.
