Review: Mission: Impossible III

It's rare for a movie with this much advance publicity to live up to the hype, but you have done it.

I have always been a fan of yours. I mean, look at your resume: from Risky Business and Top Gun to Rain Man and Born on the 4th of July. I even know that you were born on the 3rd of July. I stuck with you through the incomprehensible Vanilla Sky and the truly bizarre Eyes Wide Shut that you made with one of your ex-wives.

Mission: Impossible III is a delight. Getting J.J. Abrams to make his directorial-debut on this movie was a great choice. Sure, he created Alias and Lost for television, but this is the big time. Michelle Monaghan plays your wife Julia and do know what, Tom? She looks like Katie, sorry, Kate holmes. Philip Seymour Hoffman plays a great bad guy and guess what? He sounds nothing like Truman Capote. Ving Rhames plays Luther, as he has in all three Mission movies.

So, despite your lunatic ravings of the past year, you are still a great movie star with that killer smile, and even though I've forgotten what M:i:III is about, it doesn't matter because it was a lot of fun – 2 hours and 5 minutes of great summer entertainment.
