New Music Releases: October 21st, 2008

Brett Dennen Hope for the Hopeless (Amazon)

I had initially planned to give the top feature spot to AC/DC this week, but I spent much of last night listening to the preview version of Hope for the Hopeless on his website, and it's pretty amazing. Full of lots of indie pop/folk rock goodness and Dennen's slightly raspy soulful voice and insightful lyrics, Hope for the Hopeless is definitely worth checking out. Also, Mandy Moore is going to be in the video for the single 'Make You Crazy' so you know it's going to be spectacular. Also, also: Ain't gonna lose you was featured on this past week's episode of Grey's Anatomy.

AC/DC Black Ice (Amazon)

Ok, so it actually came out on Monday. But just because AC/DC does not need to play by the rules and release their albums on Tuesday like everyone else, does not mean they get their own 'New Music Releases' post from me. Just because this is their first studio album in eight years, and because they recorded it in my current town of Vancouver does not get them any special treatment from me! No sir!

High School Musical 3: Senior Year Official Motion Picture Soundtrack (Amazon)

For those of you who want to know all the words to every song before you go and see High School Musical 3 when it opens on Friday, the good folks at Walt Disney Records are kindly releasing the soundtrack this Tuesday.

Also being released this week...

Ludacris Theater of the Mind (Amazon)

Of Montreal Skeletal Lamping (Amazon)
