This past year in cinema was a significant step up compared to recent years. So many great films in 2012, but only ten spots. Let me preface for you, the reader, before you start scrolling down on my movie rankings: I was not able to get out and watch every acclaimed film in 2012, but for the most part I liked what I did see.
This year's first mega box office success, turned worldwide phenomenon, gets the long awaited home video release fans have been waiting for. So much so that The Hunger Games even got special treatment in being released days earlier than the industry standard Tuesday new movie/music weekly time frame and was given a Saturday release.
With the scarred four-eyed wizard gone from the box-office, and those glimmering blood suckers soon to be on their way out, teens need a new franchise to spend their parents' money on. Part science fiction, part young romance, and all parts adventure, The Hunger Games is that new franchise.
