Glee: Prom

"You can get married as many times as you want. But you only have one Junior Prom." – Quinn

I've always felt events like Prom are overblown productions that young people over exaggerate its significance. However, that could be hindsight talking, because when you're that age, it is the most important thing happening at that time in your life. So as crazy as everyone is getting on this week's episode of Glee, I definitely sympathize with them.

GLEECAP:

It's the week of Prom and it seems everyone is bad out of shape.

Air Supply is out for the Prom entertainment, Sam can't afford to go, Mercedee is upset she doesn't have a date, Puck is insecure about his image, Finn is jealous of Jesse St. James, Artie is sorry for calling Brittany stupid, Quinn is obsessed with getting that tiara, Karofsky is so sorry about hurting Kurt, Blaine is concerned about Kurt's safety. The only one who seems to have it together is Brittany who's planning to dance with other people's dates.

What are some of the solutions to these problems? Well, New Directions will fill in for Air Supply, Mercedee and Rachel become frugal dates for Sam... until Jesse becomes a fourth wheel, Puck thinks spiking the punch will enhance his image and gets Artie to help him, Blaine and Kurt decide to hold their heads up high and take a risk attending Prom, Karofsky still can't come out, and Quinn can taste victory especially after getting that nice corsage from Finn.

And so Prom begins:

Hey, it's Friday! Sings New Directions, Blaine chips in with his overly emotional style of singing, Artie gets caught spiking the punch but is let free when it's found out he didn't use alcohol, Finn and Jesse get kicked out for fighting, and Karofsky and Kurt are crowned Prom King and Queen respectively. T hen all hell breaks loose along with a lot of tears.

Rachel and Quinn do some bathroom bonding, Brittany helps Santana come to terms with her character, while Kurt and Blaine decide to stand up to the ridicule.

Got to hand it to Kurt. Unfortunately it's too hard for Karofsky who bails during the first dance, and I don't blame him. Whose idea was to use ABBA's Dancing Queen anyway?

There is peace in McKinnley at least for now. We shall see what happens when the clock strikes midnight... or school resumes Monday morning.

Questions that need to be answered: What disciplinary action was taken against Finn and Jesse? Where has the Bieste been all this time? Why wasn't Will at Prom?

BEST SONG:

Pretty light this week. I'll go with Artie's "Isn't She Lovely" serenade to Brittany. There's nothing as sweet as a man expressing his love to his fair lady through song.

BEST LINES:

"It's just a stupid crown. You can buy it at the party store." – Brittany (when did she become the smartest character on the show?)

"When I go to New York, I'm going to live in a lesbian colony. Or Tribeca." - Santana
