Bones: Crank in the Shaft

Just when you think this show's Gross-Out Factor can't go any higher...

An office manager is found mangled in an elevator shaft. It's nasty, and Booth says so. There is an office-load of suspects, and I'm not going to go through them all.

At one point, we think that she was having sex on the copy room floor with two different men, but then it turns out that she really was just the office b*tch and reported everyone for every little thing. Someone's stealing office supplies, someone's the office pothead, and someone else is lying about having sex on the copy room floor.

Turns out that the girl who DID have sex on the copy room floor killed the victim, and got her sex buddy to help her dump the body in the elevator shaft. But she actually killed the office manager with a freakin' stapler. Best weapon ever.

The Squints:

Fischer, the "Zack's replacement" for this week, was... really odd. He's the smartest and most depressive intern yet, which makes for a rather funny character. I especially loved his interactions with Hodgins (who is still rather pissy about life).

Hodgins: Have you found cause of death yet?

Fischer: Life! Life is always the cause of death, man.

Angela had some revelations in this episode, coming to terms with the "weirdness" that has come between her and Hodgins. She tries in vain to get Brennan, and then Sweets to help her, but eventually comes to terms with it on her own. Either Angela and Hodgins have finally gotten over it, or they will be back together next episode. I hope it is the latter.

Cam was super smart in this episode. I was surprised but pleased to see her at an actual crime scene – that never happens! It's nice to see that she is doing stuff in this season, besides Angela's ex.

Booth and Brennan talked a lot about working for "the man" in this episode. Booth wants this special chair from the FBI, and Brennan thinks it's because he needs to up his status among the "workers". Brennan considers herself the "queen bee" of the Jeffersonian, and there's a lot of this kind of "status" talk. It seems like old banter, like stuff that was discussed in old episodes, not stuff that the "Season 4 B&B" should be talking about. Maybe the writers got lazy. Or maybe they are trying to make them seem less lovey-dovey-partnery. Who knows?

There is the recap. Short and sweet. Or as Mr. Cheerful the intern might put it:

Fischer: "Screaming of pain, violence, and hopelessness."

Wait. I hope that's not right.
