SYTYCD Canada: 18 to 16

Your thoughts on this week, loyal SYTYCDC viewers? How do you feel about standing ovations from the judges to some pairs and nearly cruel non-commentary to others? Are they better or worse than the U.S. judging team?

And who were your favourites this week? This week wasn't much different than last for me – Nico and Arassay stood out, and Miles and Lara were as cute as buttons. Plus, Danny and Allie were overrated again. I was glad Jean-Marc finally called Allie out on always being up on her toes and her need to get down into the floor more. I realize she's a ballerina, but does she have to make it so obvious when dancing completely non-ballet styles?

I don't know about you guys, but Natalli and Francis both bug me so much that I couldn't even appreciate the passion with which they attacked that well-choreographed paso doble. (Hi Tony & Melanie! I don't like you much on That Other Show, but I was weirdly glad to see you show up here!) Also Natalli's hot pink dress was totally incongruous. I would have loved to see her in black and red (which I realize is pretty obvious, but any other colour probably would have done).

And the most burning question of all for me this week: can lackluster choreography look amazing when done by strong enough dancers? I'm not convinced. I don't think even strong, mature dancers like Lisa and Vincent could have made anything out of Paul Becker's sad, sad jailbird "Crocodile Rock" debacle. What was that, anyway? Nonsense, that's what it was. That said, Lisa and Vincent weren't given much to work with this week either. I am so over these "theme" hip-hop numbers – give me stuff like Benji & Donyelle's "2 Much Booty" over costume parties any day.

All of this aside, I was very sad to see Romina go, but I think she was the right choice under the circumstances. It's too bad she got screwed over by a less-than-ideal partner match-up. Dario is an interesting dancer to be sure, but he obviously couldn't get the hang of partnering, and it's too bad Romina had to go down with him. It seems that when the guy is the ballroom dancer and experienced partner, he can lose girl after girl after girl, but when the tables are turned... Well, you saw what happened.

But I've gone on long enough. Let's hear what you have to say!

Eh. While I don't think Natalli and Francis are the best dancers, I do realize what they are in the reality tv genre. Natalli is "the obvious hot girl" and Francis is "guy who makes the hot girl look good". And because they have a Pamela Anderson look-a-like dancing sexually on tv, the ratings will be up. Guys like my fiance do not watch reality dance tv shows, even if we are fighting and he needs to suck up. Natalli stopped him in his tracks, convinced him to watch the rest of the show, and VOTE. I imagine there are a lot of guys who did exactly the same thing around the country, much to the dismay of their girlfriends/wives. She's here to stay for a while, so I just watch with an open mind. It is certainly no different than other plot devices such as Miles' and Lara's makeouts on stage. Honestly, I find that much more irritating.

"Crocodile Rock" was TERRIBLE!I cannot think of one couple that could make that number look good. Sheesh.

Lisa and Vincent are my favourites, followed by a tie with Nico/Arassay and Danny/Allie.

Note on the judges: I think Blake is making the Candian judging team worse than the U.S. team. He is obviously there to pick up on the girls there, and he is waaay crueler than he needs to be when he doesn't like something. Everyone else is fine and appears to offer very constructive criticism.

Yeah, this is too long.

I"m so confused because I was absolutely positive that Blake was gay. Clearly I'm misinformed. Or he just likes anyone hot, and hey. Who can blame him on a show like this?

Blake has also been, so far, one of my favourites of the judges, SOMEHOW, I have no idea how, 'cause I hated him and his persona on SYTYCD U.S. and Dance Life. But now he makes me laugh! And sometimes he says nice things! Luther is my least fave -- he's like the Randy Jackson of this show (i.e., useless).

I think Miles & Lara (or their choreographer) overdid it with the fake-makeout this time -- just the once, the first time when it was sort of a tease, would have sufficed, I'm quite sure. But I JUST LOVE MILES. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. I can't help it! So cute with his ears and his "this is my momz, yo" and his encouragement to the other contestants. LOVE.

Guys buy Natalli as hot? Really? But... but... Romina! Arassay! Allie! All those girls are hotter! (I realize it's subjective.)

What I meant to say was that Blake sometimes says useful things, not nice things. (Though occasionally he does that as well.)

I think I am giong to have to vote for Lisa and Vincent more.

Ariana, I am pretty sure Blake is gay. I think he just admires hotness not matter what.

As for the judging I am finding they are not being very constructive. Sometimes one of them will say something useful. I think they will get better at it though.

First off, I was shocked at the bottom 3, Lisa and Vincent and Jesse and Caroline? No wonder they had to choose Romina and Dario.I thought the Crocodile Rock couple should have been in the bottom 3 for sure, although its not their fault their dance was brutal.

Ariana, I completely agree about Francis and Natalli, they do nothing for me. My favs are still Nico and Arassay... can't wait to see what they do this week.

Hoping that Tabitha and Napoleon will make an appearance like Tony and Melanie did this week. BTW, has anyone else seen the What not to Wear that Melanie was in? Looks like she's back to wearing black all the time :)

She was on What Not To Wear? Like as abadly dressed person?? Amazing! I must see this!

The Tab/Nap duo does nothing for me, so I'm hoping they DON'T show up. I'm not thrilled with the hip-hop choreographers at all, overall. I'd love to see Dave Scott or Li'l C on our little show!
