![]() ![]() DVD Review: Breaking Bad (Season 2)Posted by Lawrence Lee | Sunday, July 4, 2010 @ 9:18pmThe second season of Breaking Bad makes it obvious through the writing that the producers of the series have done their research in the matters that define the series. The end result is a truly remarkable show, that is able to appeal to a wide range of audience. On top of this, the acting is top notch, making it almost impossible for the viewer to not empathize with the two main characters of the show. As Walter (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse (Aaron Paul) continue with their ambitions, they leave behind a trail of regret, which also leads to self-questioninng on why they perpetuate the consequences of their criminal actions.
DVD Review: Breaking Bad - Season 1Posted by Lawrence Lee | Saturday, June 5, 2010 @ 3:25pmAfter watching the first season of Breaking Bad, it is almost impossible to point out any flaws in this show, as it is just so well polished. The show has that rare ability to just completely draw the viewer into the world of the protagonist, Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston), to the point where the viewers' own thoughts and emotions become enmeshed with those of Walter's. In a sentence, Walter is a middle-aged chemistry teacher that found out that he has terminal lung cancer, and resorts to manufacturing crystal meth, as a means to support his family.
DVD Review: X-Men: Volume 5Posted by Lawrence Lee | Sunday, May 30, 2010 @ 10:47pmX-Men: Volume 5 is the fifth, and final DVD release of the animated series that was broadcast on the FOX network in the nineties. The series became known for its mature themes, complex character dynamics, rich backstory that was taken from the comic books, and for plots that were continuously carried over from one episode to another. Mysteriously, this DVD set, along with the ones that came before, put the episodes in the order of the air dates, instead of the script date, placing some of the stories out of order. Fortunately, this is not a deal breaker for anybody that owns the previous four volumes, as episode list orders can be easily found on the internet.
DVD Review: Hercules: The Legendary Journeys - Season 6Posted by Dean Kish | Tuesday, August 23, 2005 @ 7:00amHercules: The Legendary Journeys was a show that no one ever thought would evolve into the phenomenon it became. After six successful seasons and five tele-films later, we take a look back at the mythical hero (Kevin Sorbo)'s television journey as the final season of the series hits DVD from Anchor Bay Entertainment. The final season was a rather short one and the eight episodes contained within it are more a swan song tribute to the series than memorable episodes. DVD Review: Hunter Season 2Posted by Dean Kish | Tuesday, August 23, 2005 @ 12:00amHunter was a detective series made for the 1980s. The series starred former football star Fred Dryer as Sgt. Rick Hunter, a no-nonsense L.A. detective who would do almost anything to nail his suspect. He was a hero born in the 80s and his whole action persona reflected that. His partner was a sharp and sexy female officer named Dee Dee McCall (Stephanie Kramer), who would stand her own beside her partner. The series was created by Frank Lupo and executive produced by legendary 80s television producer Stephen J. Cannell. DVD Review: Game Over - The Complete CollectionPosted by Dean Kish | Thursday, July 28, 2005 @ 6:51amThe CGI animated series Game Over probably isn't a series a lot of you are going to remember. The basic premise was that the folks at fledgling network UPN were trying to find a way merge the billion-dollar industry of video games with a sitcom. So basically you have the series' central characters, who are a "Gran Turismo"-styled race-car driver named Ripley "Rip" Smashenburn (Patrick Warburton) and his wife, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider wanna-be named Raquel (Lucy Liu).
