The Winnipeg International Film Festival kicks off June 9th with an Opening Night Gala at the Fairmont Hotel, followed by the Canadian Premiere of the renowned science fiction movie Tempus Fugit (Spain). Screenings and parties will continue all weekend at various clubs and theatres in the downtown area.
Organizers stress that WIFF events are open to the general public.
Festival director Rod Bruinooge is thrilled that many of the filmmakers screening here are choosing to travel to Winnipeg to be a part of it. "Some are traveling from as far away as Europe and Australia," said Bruinooge. "That adds a great dynamic when you know the filmmaker is in the theatre with you."
Movies will be shown at the Ramada Conference Centre, Winnipeg Contemporary Dancers Studio, and Cinematheque. This new festival has films from 16 different countries and will host over 20 world premieres.
Festival Passes are available at Ticketmaster for $49.99. Tickets to individual showings are $4.99 (available at the door). The festival runs June 9th to 12th.
Showtimes are available at www.winnipegfilmfest.ca.
