Synopsis

Set in Miami during the war on drugs, the film tells the coming-of-age story of a young man named Chiron (Trevante Rhodes). Structured across three defining chapters in his life, we see him struggle as he battles a deteriorating home life and tries to find himself as he comes to terms with his sexuality.

In the first chapter, we see him being bullied as a young boy, then as a teenager dealing with more intense bullying and questions about sexuality in the second chapter, and then finally concluding with Chiron's life as a young adult.
