Traditionally, I've ended every season finale with a brief summary but this one is special. Pitched many years ago by Eric Kripke to the WB Network, Supernatural was the back-up plan.

Another week and still no news on Amara or Castiel. Looking for a layup, Sam suggests that he and Dean take a case in Grand Rapids where a young girl has suddenly fallen into a coma. Dean is hesitant but they head to the hospital and talk to the girl's mother, Naoki.

After waking up in the middle of the night to Dean's screams, Sam knows that he has to do something and fast. The next morning, Sam uses the lack of cases as the perfect opportunity for his plan and tricks Dean into thinking he's going to see a French film.
