Oscar nominations: Avatar and The Hurt Locker lead the way with 9 nominations each

Posted by: Paul Little  •  February 2, 2010 @ 7:38pm

For the first time in over half a century, there are ten films nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Many thought that this may dilute the prestigious category, while others hoped it would open up the door to certain types of films that deserved nominations but are often ignored by the Oscars.

Beyoncé and Taylor Swift clean up at Grammys; performances the real highlight of the show

Posted by: Paul Little  •  January 31, 2010 @ 10:30pm

The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards as a television show weren't really much about the awards themselves, but rather the performances, which I suppose is how it should be.

Avatar takes home two trophies in a largely predictable (or at least safe) Golden Globes ceremony

Posted by: Paul Little  •  January 18, 2010 @ 6:02am

Amongst a largely unexciting group of winners, Avatar stood as the only feature with multiple Golden Globe victories, winning for Best Picture (Drama) and Best Director (James Cameron).

30 Rock and Mad Men among mostly predictable winners at the (thankfully) entertaining 61st Emmy Awards

Posted by: Paul Little  •  September 21, 2009 @ 7:22am

After two years of horrible experiments gone wrong (Ryan Seacrest hosting "in the round" in 2007; five reality hosts handling the duties last year), the 2009 Emmy Awards were an entertaining show hosted by the always funny and charming Neil Patrick Harris. 30 Rock and John Adams pick up plenty of Emmys; Telecast itself a huge disappointment

Posted by: Paul Little  •  September 22, 2008 @ 2:40am

The Emmy Awards have come and gone, and with the exception of a few surprises (Bryan Cranston stealing Best Actor in a Drama away from pretty much every other nominated actor), most of the favourites went home with the little golden statuette.

No Country for Old Men big winner at Academy Awards

Posted by: Paul Little  •  February 25, 2008 @ 3:31am

The 80th Annual Academy Awards was a relatively short (at only 3 hours and 20 minutes) and relatively tame affair, almost as if there was little time to prepare for it.

ShowbizMonkeys.com at the 80th Annual Academy Awards

Posted by: Paul Little  •  February 24, 2008 @ 6:00am

ShowbizMonkeys.com is in Los Angeles this weekend covering the Oscars. But let's not kid ourselves -- we're not CNN or Entertainment Tonight or even TVGuide.com, and as such, we weren't given the same kind of access these media outlets who have been around for more than five months received. But that doesn't mean we didn't get any access.
