Review: The World's Fastest Indian

Anthony Hopkins is at the time in his life where he can take any roles he wants. He's 68 years old and in this movie, plays a senior citizen.

This movie is based on the true story of Burt Munro, a New Zealander who has one mission in life: break the speed record for his motorcycle on the salt flats in Utah. The "Indian" in the title is a brand of motorcyle, but this delightful movie doesn't deal a whole lot with racing motorcycles. It's a road picture about the characters Burt meets while on his way to Utah for the first time.

The World's Fastest Indian is directed by Roger Donaldson, who has given us the good: Thirteen Days; the bad: The Getaway; and the ugly: Cocktail. The supporting cast includes Diane Ladd, Bruce Greenwood, and Aaron Murphy, who plays the cute next door neighbor kid who becomes Burt's friend, despite his parents' reservations.

You don't have to be a motorcycle-enthusiast to enjoy this movie. It's a very easy rider.
