Filter release first new album in 6 years, Anthems for the Damned

It's been 6 years since fans last saw an album from the band Filter.

After releasing The Amalgamut in 2002, front man Richard Patrick started working on a 4th album. During this time, Patrick invited Dean and Robert DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots) to help out on the album. During their first session they wrote a tune called "A Better Place". Within days, they decided to form a new band. After bringing in drummer Ray Luzier, Army of Anyone was born. The band teamed up with producer Bob Ezrin for their first and only album released on November 14th, 2006. The band's last live performance was on May 26th, 2007 in El Paso, Texas.

Patrick then returned to focusing on Filter's 4th album, teaming up with producer Josh Abraham (30 Seconds to Mars, Staind). Fast forward to May 13th, 2008 and the album is finally released. Titled Anthems of the Damned, the album features contributions from former Marilyn Manson guitarist John 5, former Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland, and drummer Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails). The CD has 12 songs in total with the first track, "Soldiers of Misfortune", as its first single.

The tracks on Anthems for the Damned are as follows:

  1. Soldiers of Misfortune
  2. What's Next
  3. The Wake
  4. Cold (Anthem for the Damned)
  5. Hatred is Contagious
  6. Lie After Lie
  7. Kill the Day
  8. The Take
  9. I Keep the Flowers Around
  10. In Dreams
  11. Only You
  12. Can Stop This
