Jack snaps up in his bed, safe in the bunker when he suddenly hears Sam and Dean outside the room – talking about how relieved they ae now that he's back. He feels a sense of calm until the alarm begins to sound. Sam and Dean are trapped inside of a burning room and need his help.

After his team-up and inevitable betrayal by Lucifer, Castiel has managed to survive and make it back to the bunker. It's there that he tells the Winchesters everything that has been happening and why he took the devil up on his offer and that he knows their mother is alive.

After Wendy Hanscum, niece to Wendy Hanscum, suddenly goes missing the Winchesters get the call and are off to Oshkosh, Nebraska to help a friend. Donna and Doug tell them what happened but it's Agent Clegg that fills them in the details of case.

After an artist turns up with his eyes burnt out, the Winchesters get a call from Sheriff Jody. She tells them that the suspect in question matches Jack's description so the two head to Bismark, North Dakota where they speak with the victim's girlfriend.

Much to Sam and Dean's disbelief, Castiel has returned. Unlike the last time their winged friend returned from the dead, he remembers everything; even how he annoyed a cosmic being into resurrecting him. As much as they are surprised to see their dear friend back, they know that Jack will be more stunned than they were.

To stop a ghost from killing again, Dean is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.
After reading about a young boy found on the side of highway that would only speak the word "monster" in Grand Junction, Colorado, Sam thinks that they have a case. He suggests that they leave Jack behind for this one as he has Sam's collection of nerdy fantasy movies to keep him occupied.
