Synopsis

This deeply touching road trip traces a man's complicated history across the vast expanse of the Canadian Shield, and asks the question: what does it mean to be family? Starting in Winnipeg and winding its way towards Thunder Bay, Bastard is a unique and intimate journey with a filmmaker and his father.

Bastard is the story of a boy who had two mothers. Now with a family of his own, he re-traces his history – in the company of his son – and assembles a complex timeline to explain the bizarre choices of his biological mother and their effects on him, her secret son.
