The U.S. government announces implementation of The Patriot's Oath, an oath which, by signing, swears a citizens' loyalty to the President. While signing isn't mandatory, there is serious pressure placed on Americans to decree their allegiance to the President. Liberal news junkie Chris (Ike Barinholtz) and his progressive, outspoken wife Kai (Tiffany Haddish) immediately decide they have no interest in signing the oath. As the deadline to sign by Black Friday looms, they agree to avoid the topic during Thanksgiving dinner with their families.
Inevitably the oath comes up during the holiday and the relatives find themselves divided by their passionate and differing opinions. Adding to the heated riff are two government officers deployed to counter protests against the oath and determined to convince all those who oppose to sign it. Tensions spike, relationships are tested, and what started as a simple Thanksgiving meal turns into an intense spectacle of conflicting political righteousness.
