Michael was waiting for the elevator. The door opened. David Brent, the former general manager of the Wernam-Hogg Slough branch greeted Michael as he walked into the hallway. Michael picked up on the accent, and asked David if he is British. David's defensiveness came up, as he asked Michael if he was picking on him.

Season seven of The Office has thus far established three major storylines. The first one involves the inevitable reunion of Michael and Holly. The second one is Dwight having purchased the building. The third storyline, involves Pam's promotion to office administrator. In China, Pam's new position crossed with Dwight's ownership and management of the building.

Ryan Howard started his first day at work at Dunder Mifflin, as a referral from a temporary agency on the pilot episode. During the first three seasons, Ryan served the role of being the everyman who reluctantly came to work at a dysfunctional environment.

It had come to the attention of the employees that the police were on the verge of finally apprehending the elusive Scranton Strangler. Whereas the whole office, including Michael, were interested in watching the broadcast, Gabe was in disagreement with how work time was being spent.

There are three established roles for Jim Halpert to play in The Office. The first, and most consistent in this series and the BBC version, is that he is the ongoing office rival of the Assistant To The Regional Manager. Over the years, the laughs derived from their interactions have been on a regular basis.

Lately, the cold openers have been hit or miss, but always tending to be goofy in the punch line. An example of a bad cold opener was last week's episode (The Sting), wherein Michael was portrayed as being so dumb that he never learned to ride a bicycle.

Since the name The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was taken, director Jay Roach (Meet the Parents) titled this summer's hilarious comedy Dinner for Schmucks. It was inspired by a French film from the 90s called The Dinner Game.

The sixth season of The Office has been the weakest of all the seasons thus far. There have been storylines that have been started that did not continue until many episodes later, and other storylines that should have gone for much longer but did not. A lot of the problems lie in the writing, which led to the characterization gone wrong.

Since Andy made his debut on The Office, he had always taken the role of a character with an odd side to him. But with Jim and Pam not awake enough to pay much attention, and Andy remembering quite well what it was like to be cheated on in a relationship, Andy ended up being the voice of reason in this episode.
