Lately, the cold openers have been hit or miss, but always tending to be goofy in the punch line. An example of a bad cold opener was last week's episode (The Sting), wherein Michael was portrayed as being so dumb that he never learned to ride a bicycle.
Raj's sister, Priya (Aarti Mankad), was in town for one night on a layover. The back story of this episode involved a five year old agreement that Howard and Leonard made where they promised that nothing would happen between either one of them and Priya. By the evening, Priya had appeared at Leonard and Sheldon's door, while Sheldon was busy with a text based video game.
This week we find Claire getting the troops ready for Halloween! This is the only holiday left that someone else in the extended family hasn't claimed, so by default she gets it and goes all out for her "favorite" holiday!
After the poor intro, campy music, and yet again mediocre writing, the final scene between Clark and Lois still put a big smile on my face and made that whole hour worthwhile.
