Amplified Idiots: The Interrogative Comic

Posted by: J.D. Renaud  •  January 6, 2011 @ 3:35pm

Have you ever read the book 'The Interrogative Mood' by Padgett Powell? Would you be interested to read it if I told you that the book's main claim to fame is that every single sentence in it is a question? Would you believe me if I told you that it is really quite

How were your holidays? Have a fun New Year's Eve? Back to the grind of work once again? Well, many of the talk show hosts are already back to work, which means new episodes for all of you!

I had a great chat over the holidays with a local comic about the history and current state of late night TV.

Christmas is only a few days away! Do you celebrate the corporate holiday? The non-corporate version? A bit of both? Neither? Yes, that's lots of questions -- maybe you'll take to the comments section and answer some of them!

Amplified Idiots: How To Stop Enjoying Open Mic Comedy Before It's Too Late

Posted by: J.D. Renaud  •  December 16, 2010 @ 2:19pm

I mark every show I play on my calendar. The year is not yet over, but I counted this year's total the other day out of curiosity. Fear not though, loyal reader. I will not pester you with the details of my public displays of mediocrity. Saying the number here would only be masturbatory on my part. Not only that, but the worst kind of masturbatory.

Hi all! It's Monday, which means another week of late night comedy to check out. But first, how did your weekends go? Have an enjoyable Thanksgiving? Get any crazy Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals? (And hopefully not trampled in the process!)

Well, enough of the pleasantries. Let's get to the listings, shall we?

Amplified Idiots

Posted by: J.D. Renaud  •  November 23, 2010 @ 11:03pm

Hello, internet. My name is J.D. Renaud. I am a stand up comedian living in Winnipeg. There are a lot of other things wrong with me, too, but we will get to that later.

My first time doing stand up was at a contest held by a (re: the only) comedy club in Winnipeg. If you're curious as to how that went, I'll tell you. I bombed. Fantastically so.

Late night talk show guests: November 22-28

Posted by: Paul Little  •  November 22, 2010 @ 9:26pm

Unfortunately, I have no time today to talk about what went down last week in late night, nor who to check out this week. Because of the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S. this Thursday, the Comedy Central shows are airing repeats all week, and the other shows have repeats either Thursday, Friday, or both.

Late night talk show guests: November 15-21

Conan O'Brien returned! Did you watch? What did you think? Many critics thought he was "too safe" -- I guess they were expecting him to re-invent the wheel, given the freedom he had gained by owning his own show on basic cable. But Conan has always wanted to be a talk show host, and we shouldn't have expected him to do too much more than that.

Late night talk show guests: November 8-12

So it's been a while... hi! It's been a long many months since this section has been active. Part of that was due to lots of summer repeats in the late night world, and part of is was -- I'm not gonna lie -- a bit of sadness at the lack of Conan O'Brien on our airwaves.

Modern Family: Halloween

Posted by: Diana Prano  •  October 28, 2010 @ 7:23am

This week we find Claire getting the troops ready for Halloween! This is the only holiday left that someone else in the extended family hasn't claimed, so by default she gets it and goes all out for her "favorite" holiday!
