Rebecca Kohler is incredibly funny -- which, oddly enough, is a great thing when making a living as a comic. Jumping between performing on stage and stepping behind the scenes to write for television, Kohler has appeared on CTV's Comedy Now!, Much Music's Video on Trial, and The Jon Dore Television Show while writing for children's program Scaredy Squirrel and CBC's This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
Not known for holding back on stage, she can easily hold her own in a variety of settings, which is likely why her appearances at this year's Winnipeg Comedy Festival include the more cerebral The Debaters, the broadly-appealing "Women Who Kill" Gala, and the infamous no-holds-barred "Dark and Stormy Show". At home in any setting -- save for the unnecessary and limiting description of "female comedian" -- Kohler spoke to me in advance of her visit to Winnipeg about her early interest in comedy, her relationship with stand-up comedy as a career, and what she has on deck for the next little while. Check out www.winnipegcomedyfestival.com for more information on Rebecca's shows at this year's Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and of course www.rebeccakohler.com for more information on where to check her out in your neck of the woods.

When ShowbizMonkeys.com gets a chance to interview someone cool, then it falls to our long-running (and always insecure) Kinda Sorta Maybe Like a Podcast. With no discernible format besides a good conversation, we do get check in with some really awesome folks, including some of the industry's top comedians, musicians, actors, and filmmakers.
Usually hosted by either Managing Editor Paul Little or stand-up comic Andrew Lizotte, other contributors to Kinda Sorta Maybe have included J.D. Renaud and Mark McLeod.
Paul Little is the founder and Managing Editor of ShowbizMonkeys.com. When not interviewing his favourite musicians and comedians, he can also be found putting on and promoting music and comedy events with The Purple Room in Winnipeg, or co-producing the live comedy game show Pants on Fire.
