Synopsis

After a promising beginning with the North-West Mounted Police, Wade Grayling's career rise has a setback one night in 1893 Winnipeg. His punishment for dishonoring the Crown is reassignment to the desolate reaches of the Yukon to survey land for a new garrison.

But instead of northern isolation, Wade finds himself sitting down to eat with the leader of a small Russian pioneer community where there isn't supposed to be anyone at all. And from the limp body hanging by the neck in a nearby tree, it's clear that the village of Merci is in need of some Red Coat Justice.
