Mid-Range is not Jamel Johnson's first foray into comedy albums. Jamel, who rose up through the D.C. comedy scene and is now a regular at the Improv, launches into a tight and punchy 30ish-minute set.

Last year, I had the opportunity to sit down with stand-up comedian Sugar Sammy before a string of shows at Rumors Comedy Club in Winnipeg. He was touring the country promoting his debut CD, Down with the Brown.

Sugar Sammy likes to push the PC envelope in his stand-up set, but not in the ways you might think. When most people in North America see a comedian of colour, stereotypes come to mind, and there are automatically assumptions made about their brand of comedy.
