Since last I wrote to you in this section, I've spent some time in L.A. covering the Oscars for ShowbizMonkeys.com. But beyond just taking in the year's biggest celebration of film (or rather, spending time on the Red Carpet leading up to said celebration), I also took in a lot of comedy.
It's a brand new week and February's right around the corner! How are all my fellow late night talk show fans doing?
Once again, there's not too much to discuss in the late night game. Conan's ratings have been solid if not spectacular, keeping up with the cable competition of The Daily Show while a bit behind Leno and Letterman on network TV.
Hello, friends! How was your weekend? Sweet, mine too! Last week saw some great late night television, as I anticipated in this very spot, but this upcoming week sees everything but Carson Daly out of repeats.
Everyone seems to have A+ guests this week, but here are the Top 5 to check out, followed as always by the complete guest listings.
How were your holidays? Have a fun New Year's Eve? Back to the grind of work once again? Well, many of the talk show hosts are already back to work, which means new episodes for all of you!
I had a great chat over the holidays with a local comic about the history and current state of late night TV.
Hi all! It's Monday, which means another week of late night comedy to check out. But first, how did your weekends go? Have an enjoyable Thanksgiving? Get any crazy Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals? (And hopefully not trampled in the process!)
Well, enough of the pleasantries. Let's get to the listings, shall we?
First, a quick Top 5 for you:
Conan O'Brien returned! Did you watch? What did you think? Many critics thought he was "too safe" -- I guess they were expecting him to re-invent the wheel, given the freedom he had gained by owning his own show on basic cable. But Conan has always wanted to be a talk show host, and we shouldn't have expected him to do too much more than that.
So it's been a while... hi! It's been a long many months since this section has been active. Part of that was due to lots of summer repeats in the late night world, and part of is was -- I'm not gonna lie -- a bit of sadness at the lack of Conan O'Brien on our airwaves.
For those who are regular viewers of any or all of Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Colbert Report, and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, you're certainly aware of the stupidly funny feud that's been going on between Conan and Stephen Colbert over who "made" Republican Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee.
