I saw The Wolf of Wall Street in early January, a few weeks after its release in a New Jersey multiplex nestled in a dingy strip mall not unlike the one where Jordan Belfort (the Wolf) founds his corrupt brokerage firm. Review: Shutter Island

Despite a Best Director Oscar and numerous accolades, the last decade hasn't been Martin Scorsese's best: his films either lumbering behemoths or modest retreads. Gangs of New York was uneven, The Aviator overstuffed (in the way biopics habitually are), and The Departed a throwback to the mob genre which made him a household name.

English director, Sam Mendes is at it again in his latest indictment of American life and values, Revolutionary Road. This film, like Oscar Best Picture Winner, American Beauty, takes us to the suburbs, only this time, instead of modern times, the setting is a drearily realized 1950s.
