Synopsis
Brian Nichols (David Oyelowo) is on trial for rape. On March 11, 2005, he escapes Atlanta's Fulton County courthouse, murdering the court reporter and the judge presiding over his trial. His rampage continues with Sergeant Hoyt Teasley and federal agent David G. Wilhelm.
He takes Ashley Smith (Kate Mara), a 26-year-old widowed mother of a six-year-old girl, hostage in her Atlanta apartment. She reasons with him, trying to get him to do the right thing.
