It is rare for a prequel to approach its subject without blatant reference to its predecessor. With Monsters University, I never got a sense that it was a forced story trying to expand or offer insights to moments that happened in Monsters Inc. Of course there were obvious things that had to be addressed in order to avoid plot holes.
The word 'Pixar' isn't in the dictionary, but it was the definition would probably read:

With a mediocre summer movie landscape filled with tired pirates, repeat bachelor parties, an unfunny fighter pilot wearing jewellery, rusty scrap metal in slowmo, and bland cowboys & aliens, there was an unlikely film about a Norwegian legend and a rainbow bridge that hammered out all that competition; and now its available for your home entertainment viewing pleasure.

It's been a while since Johnny Depp last dressed up in ridiculous clothes with tons of jewelry and put on a whack load of eyeliner. On screen that is. The highly profitable Disney franchise returns for another installment in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Up is the latest installment of Disney's long list of classic movies. The film is about an elderly man named Carl Fredricksen who, when he is forced to move out of his longtime home, decides to go on the adventure he and his late wife never got to go on.

Beautiful. Magnificent. Transcendent. These are all adjectives I would use to describe Earth, the first film released under the newly formed Disneynature production label. That being said, the film does not exist because of anyone at Disney's mind-blowing vision. Rather, Earth is a condensed new edit of the groundbreaking BBC series, Planet Earth.
