Bones: The Salt in the Wounds

A very dehydrated body is found in a salt truck, Brennan tells us that it was a tall teenage girl that was only dead for less than a month, and the salt quickened the desiccation process.

Angela and Roxy are getting a dog, apparently. And, there is a new intern working with the Squints who is Muslim. Brennan doesn't think it will work out with him since he has to pray 5 times a day, but Cam insists that they be tolerant of his religion.

Brennan: I'm not discriminating because he's a Muslim, I find all religions irrational.

The victim has many healed bones from previous fractures, lots in the hands and arms. Angela finds the victim's name, Ashley, because there aren't many teenage girls that are 6 feet tall. She had been reported missing 3 weeks ago, and the team discovers hormones that indicate she was pregnant when she was killed.

Her parents apparently had no idea she was pregnant, but do say that the fractures and healed bones were from being a competitive volleyball players. Dr. Fitz, Ashley's chiropractor, confirms that the previous injuries come from volleyball. He also had no idea that Ashley was pregnant. The father returns to talk to Booth privately (without his wife), and tells him that he suspected Ashley was pregnant because be found a pregnancy test in the garbage can.

Cam is going to try to rehydrate the body, to do a proper autopsy on the body. Brennan argues, saying that it will take too long, and would be more productive to examine the bones – however, Cam's the boss. Hodgins found fibers from a vehicle on the victim's body.

Angela is excited about getting a dog with Roxy, but Roxy breaks up with Angela instead. She says she has to think about the future, and that "this moment has past". Angela goes to ask Cam is she can take the rest of the day off, but Hodgins intercepts and Angela tells him what happened. He tells Cam that they're going to go for coffee. Next thing we know, they're naked in a warehouse that happens to have a fully made bed in it. They talk about what happened, and it is clear that they still have feelings for each other.

Booth talks to Ashley's best friend, who is also very pregnant. She does say that they fought over Rory, a boy at school. B&B go talk to Rory, but he's a devout Christian and he swears he never had intercourse with the girls. Rory says that Ashley had a fight with the volleyball coach, so B&B go speak to him. Coach says that Ashley tried to seduce and blackmail him for $5000. He also says that half his volleyball team is pregnant.

B&B crash one of apparently many baby showers that the volleyball girls are having. Melissa, the "captain" of pretty much everything, says that the father of Ashley's baby was Clinton. He's also the father of 4 other girls' babies. He's rather... nerdy looking, and it seems odd that he could get with the volleyball chicks. Booth chats with him, and he seems quite proud of his accomplishments with the ladies. It looks like the girls are up to something, and are using Clinton as a cover.

Angela tells Brennan what happened with Roxy, and with Hodgins. Angela expresses that she wants to keep things casual and not get tied down. Brennan agrees, and this worries Angela a bit. Having Brennan agree with her about something personal and emotional is kind of weird.

Muslim intern tries to find a way to examine the bones without disrupting the re-hydrating process. He impresses Cam by creating a virtual skeleton with all the monitors in the lab. He finds a tiny fracture near the neck, so Cam works her magic with some glycerin to expose any evidence on the skin in that area. They find a perfect circle of a pressure bruise, which is right on top of the Vegas nerve, which with enough force, could cause death. Someone with a medical knowledge of the human body is the murderer.

Media reports are saying that the volleyball girls made a "pregnancy pact", that they would all get pregnant and raise their kids together. Ashley tried to forge her mother's signature on a cheque for $5000. Sweets thinks the girls and their pact have something to do with Ashley needing money, and he thinks he can figure it out if Booth lets him have a go at the "Alpha Girl", Melissa.

The Muslim intern goes to talk to Angela, to pass on his condolences for her lost love. Angela is surprised that he isn't condemning her being with a woman, but instead he gives her a "melancholy music mix" that he hopes helps her. I kind of love him a bit here. Aww!

Sweets talks to Melissa, who clearly has a problem with her parents and boys. She is fine being pregnant and depending on her friends. It was her idea to get a house with all the girls and raise their kids together, but she insists that it wasn't a "pact", and that the other girls just followed her. She didn't use Clinton, but he was there for her in a time of need, and one thing led to another... The other girls chose him too because he doesn't want anything to do with the children. Each girl was supposed to come up with $5000 to put towards the house.

The fibers that Hodgins found on the victim match the chiropractor's van. He also has the medical knowledge needed for the cause of death. Booth has trouble getting a warrant, so Angela and Sweets go undercover to see if they can find the murder weapon.

While in the waiting room to see the good doctor, Angela tells Sweets about Roxy, Hodgins, and how Brennan reacted. Sweets assures her that nothing is wrong with living in the moment, but if she is unhappy, she could try being celibate for a while... like six months. Angela doesn't like that option, but understands that it might help her connect on other levels.

In the doctors office, the spot the murder weapon (a muscle adjuster), and just like that the doctor is taken in. Ashley tried to seduce and blackmail him for $5000, and he killed her. Case closed.

B&B chat over coffee, and Brennan explains that a group of women banding together to raise kids without men seemed perfectly logical. She say that Clinton seemed more than happy with the arrangement. Booth knows he needs to talk to Clinton, so he takes off.

Booth convinces Clinton how much responsibility he has to the children he fathered. He tells Clinton that if he ignores those kids, he will be a loser, a deadbeat for the rest of his life. Clinton seems to realize what he's created and lost with Ashley, and that he has to take responsibility with the other children. He needed to hear it.
