Late night talk show guests: April 26-May 2

This week is mostly repeat-free, so a big "hooray!" from me for that. There was nothing very interesting over the last week in late night television (besides phenomenal stand-up and Saturday Night Live writer John Mulaney doing a piece on SNL's Weekend Update last Saturday!!!), so tonight's post is just about who not to miss this week.

With every show at least partially new this week, there are definitely more than just 5 guests to check out, but I'll give you my Top 5 and then you can figure out the rest on your own.

  • Robert Downey, Jr. (Wednesday on Letterman) – We're less than 2 weeks away from the premiere of Iron Man 2! The first Iron Man was such a fun movie, and with the amazing cast on board for this second flick, it will no doubt be great, too. A lot of that is due to Mr. Downey, who in my humble opinion hasn't made a bad movie since at least Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.
  • Don Cheadle (Wednesday on Lopez) – Speaking of Iron Man 2, Don Cheadle has stepped in to replace Terrance Howard as Colonel James Rhodes (and for the first time, War Machine). Cheadle is one of the best actors out there, so that's reason enough to want to watch him, but he's also a really funny guy who works well on talk shows.
  • Jackie Earle Haley (Thursday on Fallon) – Jackie Earle Haley's story is quite amazing -- a successful child actor who stopped getting roles in his adulthood and decided to leave the business altogether, only to return and nab an Oscar nomination for his creepy role in 2006's Little Children -- and he's on the talk show circuit promoting his role as Freddy Kruger in the new Nightmare on Elm Street reboot. But my favourite role of his has been on TV, in the mid-season FOX show Human Target. He's so good as the mysterious but hilarious Guerrero! (Here's hoping it gets picked up for a second season.)
  • Lauren Graham (Friday on Ferguson) – I've said it before and I'll say it again: Lauren Graham is amazing. I didn't know if I'd be able to accept her on NBC's Parenthood, since her Lorelei Gilmore character from Gilmore Girls was so ingrained in my psyche. But not only have I been able to accept it, but I think she's great as Braverman sister Sarah. She's also always lots of fun when she stops by to talk with Craig.
  • Nick Offerman (Friday on Carson) – If you watch Parks & Recreation, you already know how awesome Nick Offerman is. Actually, Offerman's been around a while, so you might have even known that before Parks & Rec. Regardless, he's great. Don't believe me? The man has his own WOODSHOP! Combine that with his ridiculously badass moustache (I admit -- I joined a Facebook fan page dedicated to his moustache) and he's a can't-miss guest.
