SYTYCD Canada: 16 to 14

Things turned out much the way I expected this week, though only halfway the way I'd hoped.

If you missed it, Tamina and Joey were sent home, and the other two couples in the bottom three were Natalli and Francis, and Kaitlyn and Izaak.

I was thrilled to see Natalli and Francis in the bottom three, because while I'll admit Natalli has grown on me juuuuust a little, I still think they're both overrated. Francis's over-the-top rumba made me want to elbow-drop him in the face. (Um. I'm exaggerating.)

I was hoping they'd send Tamina and Izaak home, though, because I think Joey got hosed with Tamina as his partner and I would have liked to see him dance with someone he doesn't so clearly despise (not that I blame him one bit). As you'll recall, I've had a soft spot for Izaak since the auditions, but I'm unconvinced he'll ever live up to his potential – he's a bit like Ivan of SYTYCD U.S. Season 2 that way ('member Ivan?).

One more note on the eliminations: I was a little worried they'd kick Kaitlyn off, based purely on the strength of the solos (or the lack thereof, in her case), when she seriously deserves to be there. I would have liked to see her matched with a stronger partner though (i.e., Joey). Alas. It is not to be, unless she manages to squeak through to Top 10.

But HOW EXCITED were you all to see Li'l C and Benji??? And after I just made a comment about how I would love to see Li'l C show up this season, too! Now if only we can get him judging. But seriously – Miles and Lara attacked his choreography with a fervor and unwavering intensity I've never seen from any krump routine done on the U.S. show, so mark one down for Canada in that column. (Ditto Allie and Danny's quickstep: the strongest I've seen on any SYTYCD show, riveting to watch, and finally, they lived up to their hype.)

Nico and Arassay were, as always, my favourites, and I was mightily impressed with Blake's routine. True, he was channeling Mia Michaels in a big way, but when is that ever a bad thing? Especially when you can pull it off.

So, good people of my small-but-loyal readership, what are your thoughts? Did the right people go home? What did you think of Jean-Marc's opening number? Who's in your dream Top 10? And most importantly: will you, like Layuh-not-Leeah, be going to see High School Musical 3 on opening night?

I was so extremely excited to see Li'l C and Benji. I also hope Li'l C does some judging b/c he rules at it. The Krump was really good, as was that quickstep. I am okay with Joey and Tamina going home, though I agree that seeing Izaak go might have been better (I also agree about the Izaak-Ivan thing).
